PHI Tracker ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information we collect

We collect personal information that you provide directly, including:

  • Account details such as your email address and login credentials.
  • Health insurance details you enter, including your current insurer and policy start date. Information about your private health insurance is treated as sensitive information under the Privacy Act.
  • Payment information processed when you subscribe (handled by our payment provider).

We also collect limited technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, and usage data, to operate and improve the service.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide the offer-tracking service and compare your tenure against fund lookback windows.
  • Send you alerts and notifications you have requested.
  • Manage your account, subscription, and billing.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the service and comply with our legal obligations.

We collect sensitive information only with your consent and only where it is reasonably necessary to provide the service.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

Disclosure to third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the service, including:

  • Our payment processor (Stripe) to handle subscriptions.
  • Infrastructure and hosting providers that store data on our behalf.
  • Automated services used to gather and update publicly available health fund offer data.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law. Some providers may store or process data outside Australia; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. We retain your information only for as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law, and take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed.

Accessing and correcting your information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. You can update most details directly in your account settings, or contact us using the details below.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
